My course Reflection

                Course Reflection

In the course Educational Technology, it was a very educational and excited course with reflecting back on the past units. Unit one of Educational technology I learnt a lot about Technology Integration, Technology Integration Matrix, ISTE and NETS standard. I remember learning the definition of technology integration and successful way of using technology within the classroom for students to connect with learning materials. We learned that TIM can be used not only online but also with face to face classes. Most importantly, it was an honour learning to write a philosophy about myself and how technology can be used for student.

Unit two was very informative as well as we used our prior knowledge from the past courses. We learnt about the theoretical framework of Educational Technology. We learnt quite a number of theorist and theories and the main idea behind it. We were given an activity to create a concept map on the different theoretical framework of Educational Technology, that concept map helped me so much to remember the theories and what they are about. The theories we learnt about were: Behaviorism – Skinner, Cognitivism – Piaget, Constructivism – Vygotsky, Engagement Theory, Situated Cognition, Distributed Learning, Activity Theory and Connectivism.

Making a lesson plan was an aspect of that was  covered in unit three. The Dales Cone of experience was used in the development of our assured lesson plan.

One of my most was anticipating units was unit four. Unit four focused on Designing Effective Computer-based Instructional Support Tools. We learned about the instructional technology and the different types of instructional technologies. What was most exciting for me was creating the digital story using Capcut, creating a podcast using Podbean, Web quest, Interactive PowerPoint as well as games such as jeopardy. What for me was the most interesting part is that these different instructional tools that was created was used in my practicum exercise and for the students that participated they were eagerly engaged and excited.

Even though we had written additional technological instructions for unit five, it was just as engaging as unit four. We learned how to establish a Google site (wiki) in unit five. Although some people find history to be a dry subject, I found that unit to be interesting. The building of the wiki can be integrated in class so that students can see the course plan, their assignments, and links to information related to the courses.

Due to the digital age we live in today, I can safely declare that I have acquired the technology abilities that can be employed in the classroom after unit six. The creation of a Google form and a rubric for assignments was the main focus of unit six. One of my first online tasks was a google form, and I was really proud of how well I accomplished. subsequently, it also was my first time developing a rubric, but I appreciate how it turned out, and I can confidently state that when I become a teacher, I will make sure that all of my students' assignments include rubrics so they will understand what I'm looking for as a teacher.

The focus of unit seven was Google Classroom, to finish. When Covid 19 started in 2020, I was first introduced to google classroom, but I've always been curious about how it was created. I can say that after watching the class recordings, I got a thorough understanding of how to create a google classroom.

As this course draws to a close, I will add that myself and others will surely  miss this course. After completing this course, I can confidently assert that I will dispel the popular belief that history is dry or boring subject. To guarantee that my pupils are fully engaged in class, I will integrate technology into my lessons.
